King’s University

King’s University College, sometimes known as King’s College or just King’s, is a university college in London, Ontario, Canada that is a part of the University of Western Ontario. It is a liberal arts college that is coed and Roman Catholic. [2] The college was established to offer a liberal arts education to the all-male seminary and was formerly known as Christ the King College. The institution was established in 1954, and classes were first held there in 1955. With 3,500 students, King’s is the largest associated college of the University of Western Ontario. It has ties to Western Ontario University and St. Peter’s Seminary.

Through its partnership with St. Peter’s Seminary, the university college provides courses in the humanities, social sciences, management and organizational studies, social justice, and peace studies, social work, and theology.

In 1954, King’s was established as the College of Christ the King, a coed institution connected to St. Peter’s Seminary.

In 1954, a group of local clergymen met to discuss ideas for a new college, including Fathers McCarthy, Feeney, and Finn, Monsignors Roney, and Mahoney, and London Bishop John Christopher Cody. The new college was created to give Catholic laymen attending St. Peter’s Seminary a liberal arts education.

Bishop John C. Cody presided over a conference at the Hotel London in March 1945 and declared that the Diocese of London would found Christ the King College, an arts college that would be linked with the University of Western Ontario. During a conversation on March 22, numerous significant issues regarding the size and location of the new facility were settled. The building was initially intended to be close to Ursuline College because of its proximity to the college campus. However, “the placement on the Seminary premises is more favorable because of the attendance of the seminarians and the necessity of personnel traveling from the Seminary to the new College.” St. Peter’s Seminary granted the 10-acre (40,000 m2) plot of land to the Episcopal Corporation of the Diocese of London, where the college would be established. When finished, this new structure was to house approximately 100 men and serve as the college’s foundation.

About The Scholarship

A full-time new or returning student participating in the Bachelor of Music degree program or the Performance or Artist diploma programs will receive one $1,000 prize each year. Students must apply, maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or above, average 80% or higher on their high school entrance exams, and submit a brief video (3-5 minutes) or appear in person for an audition to be considered. All performers will be considered, but pianists will be given preference. The Henry and Aleida Segger Estate established an endowment to sponsor this scholarship.

Promoter Value

Each chosen applicant will receive a $1,000 prize from Kings University in Canada.
