Are you aware of the potential effects that changing your course of study or transferring may have on your scholarship?

Students in the FOSSI program are required to major in a STEM subject related to the chemical or engineering industries. A student may no longer qualify for the scholarship if they choose to change their topic of study to one unrelated to STEM.

Please email [email protected] if you have any inquiries about your eligibility. Prior to the selection process, scholarship applicants are responsible for declaring any potential conflicts of interest.

Application Submission Methods

Applications should be electronically submitted once they are complete. Please mail completed applications, if necessary, to P.O. Box 1546 Wilmington, DE 19899.

Who Is Going To Examine Your Application?

The HBCU Week Foundation will oversee the procedure for gathering and evaluating applications in its capacity as scholarship administrator. A selection committee will convene after an initial quantitative, automated screening procedure to choose the candidate(s) who best match the necessary scholarship criteria. The number of scholarships available and the aggregate rating will be used to select the students.

By June 1st, beneficiaries will get a call, an email, and a formal letter from the Founding Partners. Each University will receive funds for scholarships each semester from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Recipients of scholarships must continue to satisfy the requirements for the scholarship each semester.

How is your application going to be assessed?

The Selection Committee looks at a variety of factors, including but not limited to:

• Accomplishments in school

• Major in STEM

Financial Necessity

• The connection between professional aspirations and the chemical industry

• Community participation

The student will get a confirmation form to be returned within ten days of receipt if they are chosen as a recipient.
