Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS)

Students at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) spend their entire academic career in Amsterdam. English is commonly spoken in this vibrant, international city that serves as the Netherlands’ capital and is home to residents from 180 different countries. Amsterdam is a well-known international commercial center and a hive of learning and study in every imaginable field, including arts and humanities, commerce, logistics, shipping, aviation, and information technology.

Our students and lecturers use the city as their classroom and collaborate closely with a wide range of businesses, organizations, and industries to find innovative solutions to the problems that face our city.

At A Glance: Auas

There are seven faculties at our university of applied sciences. We offer 71 Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Associate degree programs and have a total enrollment of 48,718 students. With 4,199 employees, we are one of the largest employers in the higher education sector in Amsterdam.

Applied Study

Every time we undertake research, we work closely with academics and professionals to tackle a real-world issue from the professional sector. A key element of the different educational programs we provide is applied research. In the city’s living laboratories, students and professors collaborate. AUAS concentrates on six research priorities: entrepreneurship, urban education, urban management, urban technology, and urban vitality in Amsterdam.

Internationalization

Graduates with cross-cultural and international (work/study) experience are needed in the business industry. We collaborate on a variety of international educational programs, including curriculum creation, research initiatives, student/lecturer exchanges, and work placements, with 250 partner institutions in 50 different nations. This guarantees that AUAS’s educational and research programs have an international focus.

The Urban Research and Education Knowledge Alliance (U!REKA), of which AUAS is a founding member. This brings together eight European higher education institutions that have joined forces to form a strategic alliance around the shared interests of professional education, applied research and a focus on the future employment of our students.

A lengthy history

AUAS is a young organization with a distinguished past that is dedicated to innovation in Amsterdam and elsewhere. The AUAS celebrated its 25th anniversary in its current form in 2018, marking an important milestone.
