The Global Leaders Scholarship Program -

The Terms and Conditions document only applies to foreign scholarships managed by the International Services Unit (ISU) in the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law at the University of Queensland. Other scholarships not handled by the ISU team are subject to different rules and regulations. These Terms and Conditions are subject to change by the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law without prior notice.

About The Scholarship

The Global Leaders scholarship is available to foreign students who apply and enroll full-time in a chosen coursework program provided by the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law at the University of Queensland. Any student who wishes to take fewer classes during a particular semester must acquire written permission from the Faculty.

Scholarship offers that were made on the basis of inaccurate, unreliable, or deceptive information may be rescinded. During the course of the program, students are not allowed to hold more than one tuition-fee scholarship award. Scholarships may be re-offered to another qualified applicant if they are not accepted or otherwise accepted before the deadline mentioned in the scholarship offer letter.

Correspondence

The email address students provided on their application will receive all correspondence about scholarship applications, results, and acceptances. Please send the revised information to the Faculty’s International Services staff directly at [email protected] if students have changed their email address

Any program modification that alters the length and/or overall cost must receive the Executive Dean’s written consent from the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law.

Scholarships Are Paid

The scholarships will be given out in one of two ways: either a full or partial waiver of tuition fees, or a one-time payment. The scholarship money will only be used for the BEL program and its accompanying courses if you are enrolled in a dual degree program. The scholarship amount will be automatically credited to the student account by the deadline for tuition payment for recipients receiving full/partial tuition fees or a one-time payment.

Scholarship Advantages

The scholarship will be paid as a discount on tuition for an appropriate program offered by the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law. It DOES NOT include:

• The SSAF, or student services and amenities fee;

• The application cost for the University of Queensland;

• Tuition charges for retaking unsuccessful courses;

• Late enrollment fees or other administrative enrolment costs;

• Textbooks or other incidentals

• Living expenses

• Round-trip airfare

• Foreign student

Extension Of The Scholarship

In order to request an extension of their scholarship award owing to changes in enrollment, a change in the program within the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, or other extenuating circumstances, current scholarship recipients must already be in possession of one. Please send a written request to the Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law, together with any necessary CRICOS Provider Number 00025B September 2022 documentation.

Only requests for extensions up to one year in length will be taken into consideration by the Executive Dean.

There will be no further correspondence and all decisions about scholarship extensions will be made at the exclusive discretion of the Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law.

Revocation of the Award

The following circumstances will result in the scholarship’s termination:

• If the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law determines after due investigation that the student has not complied with duties or is not progressing satisfactorily.

• If a student does not continue to make adequate academic progress, they must provide justification for why the scholarship should not be revoked.

• If the student has not started studying again after being granted a maximum delay of one year.

• If the student withdraws from the university or transfers to another program at UQ. Please be aware that if a student decides to transfer or withdraw from the program, university approval is necessary. The student could be asked by the university to pay back the scholarship money.

• If the student is unable to continue studying full-time.

• If the student leaves UQ before finishing the academic year. All waived or paid tuition must be returned and repaid right away to the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Law at The University of Queensland in the event that the award is terminated.

• If the student’s citizenship status has been converted to non-international student.

Ongoing Commitments

• Ongoing commitments that awardees will uphold include:

• Students must comply with all conditions imposed by their student visas.

• Students must work diligently and to the best of their abilities to complete their degrees successfully.

• Students must follow all rules set forth by the university (including disciplinary provisions).

• Students are responsible for paying the tuition for any failed course that must be taken again.

Mutual Commitments

All scholarship holders are expected to actively participate in functions and initiatives that promote their respective programs, schools, faculties, and/or The University of Queensland. This might comprise, but is not restricted to:

• completing a testimonial for the Faculty that will be posted on the university website and possibly utilized for further marketing initiatives.

• taking part in a photo shoot, the results of which may be utilized for advertising.

• revealing personal information to authorized UQ partners and representatives, such as name, UQ program, UQ scholarship, and/or name of previous university and program attended. When promoting the scholarship and program, these parties may include the student’s prior university, its contractors, and agents.

• Support in promoting the University of Queensland as a place for international students to study.

• Participation in a biennial ceremony for welcoming scholarship recipients

• taking part in additional social events that the Faculty organizes just for scholarship students.
