The McCall McBain Scholarship Program

An English-speaking public research university in Montreal, Quebec, Canada is called McGill University. The University of McGill College (or simply McGill College) was founded in 1821 by a royal charter granted by King George IV. The university bears the name of James McGill, a Scottish merchant whose bequest in 1813 formed the university’s precursor.

The main McGill campus is located in the Ville-Marie neighborhood of downtown Montreal on the slope of Mount Royal, and a second campus is located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, on Montreal Island, 30 kilometers (19 miles) to the west of the main campus. In addition to being the only Canadian member of the Global University Leaders Forum (GULF) within the World Economic Forum, the university is one of only two members of the Association of American Universities outside of the United States, along with the University of Toronto

The majority of students are enrolled in the six largest faculties, which are Arts, Science, Medicine, Education, Engineering, and Management. McGill offers degrees and diplomas in over 300 fields of study and has the highest average entering grade of any Canadian university. More than 30% of McGill’s students are from outside Canada, making it the most globally diverse medical-doctoral research university in the nation. These students come from more than 150 different nations. Major academic publications rank McGill among the top universities in the world, and it has topped the nation for the past 17 years in the annual Maclean’s Canadian university rankings. Additionally, over 41% of students are foreign-born.
