The Institution of Calgary is a public research university in Calgary, Alberta, Canada (U of C or UCalgary). The University of Calgary was initially founded in 1944 as the Calgary branch of the University of Alberta before changing its status to a unique, autonomous university in 1966. There are 14 faculties and more than 85 research institutes and centers. The major campus is located in the northwest quadrant of the region along the Bow River, while a minor south campus is located in the city’s core. The majority of the research facilities are situated on the main campus, which also collaborates with federal, provincial, and academic institutions including the Geological Survey of Canada, which has offices just outside the campus. The main campus covers approximately 200 hectares (490 acres).

A member of the U15, the University of Calgary is one of Canada’s top research universities (based on the number of Canada Research Chairs). The university earns $380.4 million in sponsored research money out of total revenues of more than $1.2 billion. The institution maintains close ties to the geoscience and petroleum industries through the Department of Geosciences and the Schulich School of Engineering. A number of additional departments and faculties are also maintained by the university, including the Haskayne School of Business, the School of Public Policy, the Faculty of Law, the Cumming School of Medicine, and the Faculty of Arts.

About The Scholarship

The prestigious University of Calgary International Entrance Scholarship is awarded to one international student beginning their undergraduate studies at the university in the Fall term in appreciation of their remarkable achievements. One prerequisite for the Scholarship is academic excellence, but there are other accomplishments that must also be taken into account.

Scholarship Value and Criteria

Students at the University of Calgary in their second, third, and fourth years who maintain a 2.60 or better GPA throughout a minimum of 24.00 units during the previous fall and winter terms are eligible for the $15,000 award. The entire cost of a four-year undergraduate degree is $60,000.

Eligibility

International students must submit an application if they are enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree program that begins in the fall semester. They had to be freshmen. The standard GPA requirement for scholarship candidates is 3.20. Additionally, students had to have met the requirements for English language proficiency set by the university.

You can apply for prizes as soon as you submit an application for admission. Regular applications are due 1 March 2023 for admission in the fall of 2022, and early admission applications are due 1 December 2022. (Standard admission).
